Posted on  10/11/2023

The winning projects of the Polisocial Award 2023, the annual contest, promoted by Polisocial, that reinvests the 5x1000 IRPEF funds in research projects with a high social impact.

The theme of this tenth edition is “Activating Communities, Bridging the Gaps” and is designed in close relationship with the Off Campus – Il Cantiere per le Periferie University project. The funded projects will strive to frame situations of unbalance and need within the contexts of intervention, with a view to extending and renewing the community service function offered through the Off Campus hubs network.

Among the winning projects, we highlight the project that involve the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering “Giulio Natta”:

BIOLOOP | Experimental lab to support local, circular and participatory economy practices
Through the use of edible and non-edible surpluses and waste, that are generated in the area near Off Campus Cascina Nosedo, BIOLOOP intends to create synergies between local actors, promoting circular practices of transformation, local production of goods and training activities. The experimental aspect of the project focuses on self-production, sustainable distribution and support to urban agriculture, starting from the mapping of flows and the creation of a 'materials library of resources'. The aim is to generate positive impacts, including income support and the reduction of food poverty.
