Research activity

Scientific activity focus on the design of materials and surfaces, with particular attention to innovative and functional materials, nanotechnologies and surface functional treatments and their technology transfer to design, architecture, food and textiles/fashion fields, which are related to Made in Italy.

Research topics include:

  • Functionalization of surfaces through nanotechnology
  • Study of the composition of the bulk material (Phase Change Materials)
  • Study and characterization of soft quality (sensory aspects) of materials for the design
  • Selective Laser Melting technology (SLM) for jewels
  • Evaluation of environmental impact, through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

Great attention is devoted to research in the field of design materials, thanks to the creation and implementation of a materials library and dissemination through publications and books.

Didactic activity

From academic year 2004/2005 she teaches at the Politecnico di Milano courses on materials science and technology.

Other activities

She is part of the board of PhD in Design at the Politecnico di Milano
Member of ADI
Member of Associazione Italiana di Ingegneria del Materiali (AIMAT)
Member of Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale di Scienza e Tecnologia dei Materiali – INSTM
Editorial board member of the “Journal of Applied Biomaterials and Functional Materials"
