The OSCM Lab (Organic @ Synthesis, Materials and Catalysis)stems from the convergence of different but complementary skill sets in the field of organic synthesis and physical organic chemistry:
Design and synthesis of: i) receptor and/or sensor molecules for the recognition of ions in solution; ii) coordination polymers for the selective adsorption of volatile organic compounds; iii) supramolecular hydro-, organo- and xerogels for sensing of volatile compounds;
Design and synthesis hybrid metal organic materials by fast and slow crystallization methods. Ab initio powder XRD techniques for determination of their crystal structure and studies on their solid-state and mechanochemical reactivity.
Synthesis of small molecules/peptidomimetics/peptides as antimicrobial agents. Design of (fluorinated) cationic lipids and polymers as gene and drug delivery vectors
Multicomponent approach for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. Design and synthesis of ligands for metal catalysis.
Synthesis of hydrogels and nanogels for biomedical applications.
Eco-design of micro-/nano-structured organic materials from biomass for i) water, air, and soil remediation, ii) sensing, iii) building materials, iv) catalysis, v) (phyto)drugs delivery.
Development of catalytic systems for selective oxidation of organic substrates.
