The mCD – Concrete Durability group’s activities deal with the study and characterization of traditional and innovative cementitious materials and the durability of reinforced concrete structures and prestressed concrete structures. It has experience in the field of construction materials technology, in particular concrete and steel, focusing on their characterisation, their degradation phenomena and their modelling. The group has skills in the evaluation of the conservative state of reinforced concrete structures, in the estimation of the residual service life, in the choice of restoration techniques (e.g. conventional, based on electrochemical technique and non conventional materials) and in the service life design.
Teaching activities are carried out on building materials and their durability in bachelor and master of science courses of Civil Engineering, Building Engineering and Architecture. The group is also involved in specializing courses and high-level training courses.
The main research fields are related to:
In these fields the group provides consultancy support and laboratory testing.
