PROFILE

Tomaso Villa was born in Milan in 1970. He got the Laurea Degree (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering in 1997 and the PhD in Bioengineering in 2003 at Politecnico di Milano. Since 2000 he has been working at the Laboratory of Biological Structure of the Politecnico di Milano and he is the reponsible of the Laboratory of Prostheses Biomechanics of the same structure.

Since May 2018 he is Associate Professor and he teaches “Endoprostheses Design” at the Laurea Degree in Biomedical Engineering and "Experimental Biomechanics" at the PhD course in Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano.

His research activity is focused on:

• design of experimental setup for the assesment of the biomechanical reliability of implantable devices
• study of the mechanical behaviour of biological tissues
• study of the biomechanics of articular prostheses
• study of the biomechanics of implantable devices for spinal surgery
