PROFILE

Stefano Turri is Full Professor in Materials Science and Technology at the Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering Department of Politecnico di Milano. His research interests include: study of the structure to property relations in polymer and composite materials; polymer chemistry; coating and interface science and technology; surface functionalization and characterization; polymers and devices for biomedical applications; durability and degradation of photovoltaic materials; durability and recycling of materials; development and characterization of biodegradable and bioderived polymers; development of sustainable materials and processes for advanced manufacturing.

He is author of over 120 peer-reviewed scientific papers and of more than 20 patents already filed in Europe and/or USA. He is or was scientific responsible for Politecnico di Milano for the execution of the following projects: MicroFluid (FP7), Saltgae and FiberEUse (H2020), NanoVer, HAF, Ecoimpatto (Lombardy region), PolyPhab and 3D-Microstructuring (Cariplo foundation), plus other national projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research.

He is or was member of the management board of A4M.it (Alliance for Materials Italia) and AFIL (Associazione Fabbrica Intelligente Lombardia) associations, and member of the technical-scientific committee of PROCOAT consortium. He is member affiliate of AIM and AIMAT associations, and INSTM consortium. He was chairman of the 1st European Conference on Smart & Functional Coatings (Torino, 2013), guest editor of the journal Progress in Organic Coatings, and member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Polymer Science.

He is currently president/coordiantor of the study program in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology at Politecnico di Milano.
