My research is driven by the desire to apply the principles of supramolecular chemistry and the physical-organic chemistry approach to the development of novel functional materials. Non-covalent interactions are indeed at the basis of catalysis, recognition and sensing and they are crucial for attaining novel properties and the desired spatial organization of molecules in complex systems in the condensed phase.

Most recently, my interests are focused on:

• 1D coordination polymers and metal organic frameworks
• Responsive organo- and metallo-gels
• Mixed pi-stacked organic materials

Over the last years, I acted as reviewer for the following international peer-reviewed journals: Chem. Sci., Chem. Commun., Inorg. Chem., ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces, Langmuir, Dalton Trans., J. Mater. Chem. C, RSC Adv., J. Fluor. Chem. and J. Incl. Phenom. Macrocycl. Chem.
