RESEARCH

PROFILE

Assistant professor in the “Scuola di ingegneria industriale e dell’informazione” at  Politecnico di Milano since 2005; national academic qualification for associate professor, 09/D1 Scienza e tecnologia dei materiali, January 2014. During the years 2000 to 2004, postdoctoral associate in the “Dipartimento di Chimica Fisica Applicata” at Politecnico di Milano, after achieving the doctoral degree in Electrochemical Engineering (2000) and the master degree in Chemical Engineering (1995).

Research interests

I have been working in the area of electrochemistry and electrochemical processing of materials, surface engineering, synthesis, characterization and applications of carbon nanomaterials, in the frame of both academic and industrial research activities. My current research interests are centred on electrochemical energy storage, in particular supercapacitors, and capacitive deionization, with a focus on the study and development of electrode materials. Since twenty years now, I have been working in the area of surface engineering spanning a wide range of processes and applications both for research purposes and industrial applications.
