PROFILE

She graduated in Materials Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano in 2009. She completed her PhD in Materials Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 2013 working on the development of photochromic switches as tools for concept devices. During her PhD she was visiting student at the University of Utah (USA) working on the application of photochromic materials for optical lithography.

From 2013 to 2016, she carried out postdoctoral research in the CMIC and DEIB Department of the Politecnico di Milano working on surface functionalization with bioactive components and nanostructured materials (electrospun fibers).
In 2017 she won a MSCA-COFUND fellowship in nanomedicine to work at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) in Barcelona (Spain), where she focused on the design and synthesis of light-switchable drugs.
In 2021, she received an MSCA-IF “Seal of Excellence” to join the LIOS Biotechnology group of the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS) in Riga (Latvia) to work on biohybrid and photoactive materials.

In her research activity, she focuses on the control of the function and the organization of photoactive and functional materials at the nano and at the macroscale using a multidisciplinary approach involving synthetic chemistry, materials science, biotechnology and pharmacology for multiple applications.
In 2019 she won the ISOP2019 international prize for the quality of her research in the field of photochromic materials.
