Professor Andrea Mele won the 2017 GIDRM/GIRM Gold Medal for several landmark contributions to Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, in particular to liquid-state NMR, including methodological papers with wide applicability, review articles, as well as recent results dealing with the structures and dynamics of novel materials and polymers and for his leadership as an inspiring teacher and mentor in the field.

This award was established for the first time in 1989  by the Italian Magnetic Resonance Discussion Group to honor academic scientists for their innovative achievements the field of NMR spectroscopy and is granted during the annual meeting. A plenary lecture opening the XLVI National Congress on Magnetic Resonance was given by Prof. Mele. Title of the presentation: Molecular interactions and dynamics at a glance: NMR and beyond.
