Milan, 15 January 2020 - Presenting the winners of the Polisocial Award 2019, a competition favoring the development of high social impact scientific research, reinvesting funds coming from 0.5% taxation destined for the Politecnico di Milano.

Sports were selected this year as the central theme for the Polisocial award because of their intrinsic social value: if research in the technological field contributes to leveraging sports as a powerful tool for inclusion of physically disadvantaged subjects, sports in general are an extraordinary tool for combatting difficult issues for youth, favoring dialogue among cultures and promoting social and environmental re-qualification in neighborhoods, in addition to being a fundamental theme for the design, recovery and reformulation of equipment and whole parts of the city.

Among the winning teams, we highlight the one involving the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering “Giulio Natta”: 

GIFT | enGIneering For sporT for all

Experimental realization and validation of a new prosthesis for children who face difficulties in exercise class at school and during free time, to promote the possibility of “SPORTS FOR ALL”.
