An Alumnus of the Politecnico returns to Italy to carry out research in the field of chemistry

Gianvito Vilé is the latest winner of the Felder Award, funded by the Bracco Foundation and Bracco Imaging in partnership with the Politecnico di Milano and the Politecnico di Milano Foundation.

The prize of €1 million, established in memory of chemist Ernst Felder, was awarded following an international call for applications open to young Italian researchers who had moved abroad and specialised in “flow chemistry”. Its aim is to counter the phenomenon of “brain drain” by allowing a researcher to come back to Italy in order to carry out research in this country at a high level of innovation and sustainability.

Vilé, who obtained his master’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano and his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the ETH Federal Polytechnic in Zurich, will now be able to carry out his research in the Politecnico di Milano’s laboratories and at the Bracco Research Centre in Ivrea. He will continue his work - aimed at “designing environmentally-friendly synthesis processes” as applied to the chemical and pharmaceutical industries - from a perspective of protecting human health and the environment.
