“Carta Tecnologia Futura” Scholarship

Posted on  6/13/2022

Congratulations to Laura Riva, former PhD student and current post-doc researcher at the OrganicSCM Lab (Organic Synthesis, Catalysis, and Materials Laboratory) at the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering, who has won the “Carta Tecnologia Futura” scholarship, an award for the most deserving thesis related to the paper sector promoted by ATICELCA - Associazione tecnica italiana cellulosa e carta (Italian Cellulose and Paper Technical Association), in partnership with the RDM Group

Laura Riva won the award thanks to her thesis titled Nanocellulose: Production ad applications of an innovative eco-sustainable resource, the fruit of her PhD work, which had the main objective of producing, from cellulose – an easily available and highly eco-compatible organic compound – a new material of significant added value: nanocellulose. The properties of nanocellulose mean that it is a very promising sustainable material that could be used in various environments, such as green construction or aerogel production.

Laura Riva received the qualification of Doctor of Research in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in September 2021 from the Politecnico di Milano’s School Doctorates School; her research project was co-funded by Innovhub, Stazioni Sperimentali per l’Industria (Paper and Cardboard Division), one of the research divisions of the Milan, Monza and Brianza and Lodi Chamber of Commerce,

The prize – a € 4,000 grant – was awarded at the Italian Paper Industry’s Annual Congress, held in May 2022.
