Rome, 17th June 2022 - Gianvito Vilé was presented with the prestigious "Alfredo di Braccio" Award for Chemistry by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei during a ceremony attended by Sergio Mattarella, the President of the Republic.

Vilé, Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering "Giulio Natta", is involved in catalytic processes for sustainable development and has been honoured for «the significant results achieved in the field of synthesis, characterisation and use of functional materials on a nano-scale [...] for the development of sustainable chemical technologies such as the conversion of biomasses, with an approach ranging from the atomistic properties of the systems studied to the engineering of micro-reactors and processes».

Vilé is a graduate of the Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science) programme in Chemical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano, holds a PhD from ETH Zurich and in 2020 won the Felder Award, which is financed by the Fondazione Bracco and Bracco Imaging in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano and Fondazione Politecnico di Milano.
