As a part of the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering “G. Natta”, the main goal of the BioCell Laboratory relies on the biological characterization of materials with application in the biomedical, pharmaceutical and food and industrial fields.
The equipment, together with the expertise of the BioCell team, allowed for the development of a highly dynamic and multi-faceted environment, focused on the design and optimization of molecular systems for gene delivery purposes, 2D and 3D scaffolds and cell-laden structures for tissue engineering, cell/drug delivery systems and in vitro cell models. Besides, BioCell activity also focuses on the biological and microbiological characterization of innovative materials and surface treatments for a wide range of applications. Our team has a long-established expertise in the assessment of biocompatibility and antimicrobial activity of materials according to European and International standards.
