Milan, May 21, 2024 - The Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering 'Giulio Natta' of the Politecnico di Milano has been awarded the EuChemS Historical Landmarks Award, established by EuChemS (European Chemical Society). The ceremony was held in the historic building located in Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, Milan where Prof. Giulio Natta worked and taught.
This award is intended to designate sites in Europe where significant events in the field of chemistry have taken place. In particular, this year, it was awarded to two places related to the work of Giulio Natta and Karl Ziegler. The two scientists initially were linked by their cooperative and competitive research and development activities in the field of polymer science. Then they shared the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1963.
