Education

2019 PhD in Materials Engineering, Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano.
1992 Degree in Physics, Institute of Physical and Natural Sciences, Università Statale di Milano.

Career

  • From November 2018 to December 2021 he had a research grant for the research project "Spectroscopic methods for the study of polymeric materials and nanostructured carbon materials." at the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering (CMIC) “G. Natta ” Politecnico di Milano.
  • From November 2015 to November 2018 he was enrolled in the XXXI cycle of the PhD course in Materials Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano - "Structure / Properties Relationship in Novel Carbon Based Materials: an Investigation at the Molecular Scale".
  • From September 2009 to October 2015 he was hired by Politecnico di Milano, as a laboratory technician.
  • In the period 2007 - 2009 he had a coordinated and continuous collaboration relationship with Politecnico di Milano for the research projects “Spectroscopic analyses relating to self-assembled nano-structured materials of biological relevance” and “Vibrational infrared and Raman spectroscopy of functional organic materials; study of the interactions between organic molecules and substrates ".
  • From February 2000 to February 2007 he had a Research Grant for the program "New polymeric materials with high non-linear optical properties" and collaborates to the European project “Molecular Approach to Carbon based Materials for Energy Storage” at the Dynamics and Molecular Spectroscopy laboratory by Prof. Giuseppe Zerbi of the Politecnico di Milano.
  • From May 1998 to January 2000 he had a scholarship awarded by Federchimica on behalf of Montell Italia Company to carry out the research "Spectroscopic characterization of Ziegler-Natta type catalytic systems".

Research activity

Study of the properties of organic molecular systems and polymeric materials through the use of Infra Red and Raman vibrational spectroscopies techniques, UV-Vis NIR absorption spectroscopy and electronic emission spectroscopy. Principal materials studied: Ziegler-Natta catalysts, polymers for structural and industrial applications, semiconductor polymers, PAH, carotenoids, organic semiconductors for solar cells and molecular electronics, carbon-based nanostructured materials (graphite nanoparticles, graphene-oxide and nanostructured graphite by pyrolysis processes of molecular precursors).

Characterization of materials used in the field of Cultural Heritage (materials and treatments for the restoration and conservation of works of art), molecules of biological interest and for applications in the field of nuclear engineering.

Collaborations with the research group of the Spectroscopy and Modeling Section of the FunMat Lab CMIC, with the LP3 laboratory of the CMIC and with the interdepartmental laboratory SoLiNano (Physics Dept., Politecnico di Milano).

Industrial collaborations: Savarè, Solvay, Cefriel, Tetrapak
