The GIFT (enGIneering For sporT for all) project is among the winners of the 2021 #BeInclusive EU Sport Awards, the competition promoted by the European Commission to celebrate organisations whose work uses the power of sport to improve social inclusion for disadvantaged groups.

The research group of GIFT have studied and realized a new generation of orthoses that allow children with hemiplegia to practice sports, avoiding that they are excluded from physical activity during the hours of gym in primary schools.

GIFT gains the first place in the “Breaking barriers” category, that rewards projects that show resilience, giving examples of how to overcome obstacles to participation in sports.

The GIFT project was conducted at E4Sport, the Politecnico di Milano’s interdepartimental laboratory dedicated to the world of sport, and won the 2019 edition of the Polisocial Award, the competition which rewards Politecnico best research projects with social purposes. The project partners are IRCCS Eugenio Medea - Associazione La Nostra Famiglia, Università Cattolica di Milano, the associations Edumoto Yuky ONLUS, Polha Varese and Polisportiva Milanese 1979 Sport Disabili Onlus, together with the companies ITOP, BTS and Math&Sport. Moreover, Claudio Arrigoni (Gazzetta dello Sport) is a collaborator.
